An online begging bowl???
As I’m asking for money - donations - to aid me to travel and write about the places, people and things I see as I go. The problems I encounter. How I feel about them. Society at large globally and in each country; the world and all kinds of other things as and when I feel I need to. Many may well think that what I’m doing is nothing short of an online begging bowl.
That’s not the case. If I’d wanted to do that I’d have named the site beggersbowl.com (though beggars bowl are a folk band I belive, but that’s beside the point). I’m not helping the homeless with interesting articles and advertising, nor am I homeless myself - otherwise I’d have named the site bigissue.com (despite the obvious copywright infringements that would have involved).
I do want to write something that people want to read. I do want to get things off my chest that I’m sure many other people are thinking and feeling. I would like to offer a fresh perspective and a different viewpoint from the homogenised and watered (and dumbed) down half-truths that we read about, hear, and see in the popular media each day.
As a trade, if you like what I’m saying (even if you don’t) or you like what I’m doing, or why I’m doing it, you can give me a pound or more. That’s your choice. Regardless, it’s free to read, and I’ll keep writing as long as I’ve food on the table and a roof over my head - until christmas at least then…
For all of that, and more, I just need a pound, I’m not asking “have you got any spare change?”…
