“BBC ‘opens floodgates’ to iPlayer hackers” -Of Course They Have!

BBC iPlayerThe Guardian thinks it has a scoop by revealing that people have hacked the iPlayer so that the 30 day time limit on downloads ceases to work, giving people unlimited access to downloads.

However, scratch below the surface and you will realise that this happens to every single download with a “trial period” or time limit. “Cracks” are available for every single piece of software if you know where to look. Software worth thousands of pounds can be downloaded for a trial and the little piece of code that stops it working after 30 days can be circumvented.

This is not news. The BBC and the Guardian should get over themselves and realise that the the BBC might as well make the whole thing freely available.

What difference does 30 days make? How many times do you need to watch New Tricks? -Especially all programmes can be streamed without limit. Better security is required if you want to protect any sort of software or entertainment.
