Dizzee Rascal on Radio 1 Live Lounge

They call me ruuuuudebooooooy!

Mercury Award winning British rapper Dizzee Rascal was one of the latest artists to do a rather unexpected cover on Radio 1’s live lounge. The same show that brought us the Kooks’ rendition of the Gnarls Barkley hit “Crazy” and the Automatic performing Nelly Furtado’s “Maneater”, now have one of the most bizarre covers yet with former Roll Deep Crew rapper Dizzee covering the Ting Tings number one “That’s not my name.”

Personally, I thought the original was complete marmite music and I was a hater not a lover. When I heard the Rascal version I was completely converted – instead of some whiny sounding bint from Salford we have one of, if not the best, english rapper with a pretty amusing song instead of somebody complaining about the fact that nobody remembers her name. I wouldn’t remember her name when her voice gives me more discomfort than riding along a cobbled street on a bike with no suspension with a bad case of piles. If you are going to listen to this song make sure it’s the one written by someone who doesn’t sound like a 13 year old hormonal teenage kid.
