Essential Australia - The Lost Service Station
This is the second installment of the Essential Australia series of photos. These pictures sum up Australia quickly, having spent a year doing a lap of the country.
The Lost Service Station
After driving around 60 kilometers along gravel and dirt, in the first long drive of our trip, into Alpine Victoria (on the back road to Jamieson) it was nice to see some civilisation. This petrol station is the most remarkable I have ever seen, so I had to stop and take a photo. It was quite a strange place, and we got some funny looks doing it, but it was worth it. A real blast from the past.

We later heard a rumour from some other Australians that this area had seen a series of grisly murders. Another Wolf Creek? Not sure -but we didn’t hang around to find out!
