Fasthosts Dedicated Servers Down

You may or may not have noticed that several of our other websites are not working at present. This is due to a Fasthosts Dedicated Server which we’ve been using to test our new channels before getting a much more robust and substantial server in the next month or so - that server is down, kaput. Unfortunately, this situation is beyond our control, and we must wait for the Fasthosts engineers to rectify it.

The joys of e-commerce are once again all too apparent.

Actually, this could have been worse - this morning I decided to go for another six mile run instead of jiggering around with the server as per usual, so I only noticed it was offline just before we went out. Then it was back on. When we got back after doing some shopping and a run (a couple of hours) it was off again. It has, apparently, been offline for most of the day, due to some switch breaking somewhere.

As I missed out on the dubious pleasure of checking each website, and trying to access the server in vain for a couple of hours I do feel somewhat cheated, but my blood pressure is probably better for the run as opposed to an entirely fruitless two hours thinking about phoning the endless helpline, waiting fifteen minutes, then emailing, then going on The Register, then finding out what I already knew: that it ain’t working.

Must get on with some offline projects. Or use these other websites which our hosted in our bombproof super volcano hideout (at a fraction of the cost!).
