Golf – Valderrama, Volvo Masters

Englishman Justin Rose yesterday increased his lead in the Volvo Masters tournament at Valderrama, in blustery conditions.

Padraig Hamilton, of Ireland, was the next closest to Rose as the second round closed.

This is an important tournament for both of them, as a top three finish will see the victor of the two lift the European Order of Merit title. If neither makes the top three, Ernie Els will take the prize.

Rose is currently four under par, on 138 after posting a 3-under round of 68 on day two, while Harrington continued his on par round for the second day in succession, finishing with another round of 71.

The Order of Merit Prize really adds some spice to this battle, and it is good to see the top 2 European golfers of the year battling it out in good style so far. The final day (4 October) should be great, if these two are strolling up the final fairways with a couple of shots between them!
