Happy Eid ul-Fitr!
Saudi Arabia announced just a few hours ago that Eid ul-Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow. Islamic festivities always depend upon sightings of the moon and the UK may well follow the Saudi lead as it is the country of Mecca. So, to those of you who are about to start celebrating in 20 minutes, Eid Mubarak!
The Daily Star in Bangladesh has this to say:
EID-ul-Fitr comes once again with its message of remembrance of the Almighty and caring for those who are less privileged than us. With the end of the holy month of Ramadan, it becomes our particular responsibility to go for self-assessment on what we have endeavoured to do during the period and what we could yet have done to bind our spirit with the higher calling of faith.
There has been some speculation as to whether Eid will be announced in the UK on Tuesday or Wednesday. Check out Asian Image for some clarification. Please let us know if your local UK mosque has declared Eid yet.
00:10 Tuesday: This just in from the Muslim Council of Britain:
