Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - with trailer
The new film, “Indian Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” is due out on Thursday May 22nd. What I can’t believe is that the invincible Harrison Ford will be 66 this year - what’s he doing in another Indiana Jones?
I’m not sure how the new film will reconcile with the classic Nazi/Cult-busting heroism of Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade. The 1930’s setting allowed him to be a little sexist and the enemies to be a bit stereotyped -this was the era of colonialism, after all. The setting appears to be still very much 1930’s.
Sean Connery has decided not to come out of retirement for this one saying: “retirement is just too much damned fun. I do, however, have one bit of advice for Junior: demand that the critters be digital, the cliffs be low, and for goodness sake keep that whip by your side at all times in case you need to escape from the stunt co-ordinator.[kml_flashembed movie="http://www.youtube.com/v/cQ60n9DiAEM" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent" /]
I’m not happy that they’ve cast the lead guy from “Transformers”, used library footage from the old films and involved an American flag in the trailer. However, I look forward to seeing what they come up with.
