Apologies for poisoning the happy atmosphere in this blog but no intelligent and caring person can ignore the bilge coming out of the US war machine.
I know that it’s popular to bash America. Ever since the country first began to display its complete ineptitude as world oligarch, taking the mickey out of the US of A has been easier than shooting fish in a barrel. The PR build up against the “Green Terror” was such an obvious substitute for spending billions on the “Red Terror” after the fall of the Berlin Wall as to be laughable.
But, after watching a news item tonight, I couldn’t take America’s poor attempt at fabrication anymore. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has been in custody for three and a half years, with no rights, no guarantees of humane treatment, probable torture and a US military officer for representation. Need I infer anymore?
Under proper rule of law, this confession is not worth the paper it is written on. I am genuinely scared of the American attitude to the civil liberties of foreigners (including myself). -not to mention the complicity of other “poodle states” such as Britain and Australia. How can the Australian Minister of Foreign Affairs keep a straight face when he commends the Americans on extracting this “confession.”
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed confessed to so many crimes that he might as well have blamed himself for starting World War II and the Battle of Hastings. If the US military is so brilliant, why did they not notice a common vein in the 30+ attacks that Mohammed is alleged to have masterminded? A similar ingredient in the bombs? A similar method of attack or the same practice of gloating online afterwards? Absolutely no way. The Americans are creating a sham that the rest of the world is swallowing whole and I am ashamed that there is nothing I can do to free the men in Guantanamo Bay.

Mind you, he (the sheikh) is no oil painting. He did seem to be stretching the truth a bit, if the transcript of the secret court hearing could be believed.
MWS said if the hearing was secret, how could there be a transcript? Typical lawyer.
Please remember, not all Americans are bad. And not all of us in UK wished to go to war, nor believed the propoganda. In fact, we believe very little.
And now even Blue Peter has been caught lying. Is there no honour?
