I’ve today upgraded this site to Wordpress 2.3 - this is the first of my Wordpress sites for which I have done this.

I also changed the theme as the old one only really worked properly about 10 versions of Wordpress ago!

This has thrown up a whole load of problems, incompatibilities and bugs, some of which sent the site down briefly - apologies for that!

However, it seems to be working fine now - though I’ve had to play around with the MySQL databases to get things working again (like comments, etc) so if you experience any problems please be sure to tell me!

Do you like the new look?

I’d be interested to hear your views. If you’d like a return to how things were before, I’ll probably have to write an entirely new theme that is WP 2.3 compatible (I should probably do this anyway!) and spend some time learning what is new…

There are relatively few new features, though I have continued my use of the “Share This” feature (below each post) so you can digg, stumble, reddit or whatever any post you find by clicking that button (without having to see thousands of garish logos strewn around the place!) Generally, that feature tidies things up a bit.

I’ve also finally removed all references to the sponsor and donation stuff. Asking for money is not cool, it never was, and never will be - it was just a joke.

I’ll try hard to make things work properly, and to reduce the number of advertisements, where possible, though that is the only thing which affords us the time to write about all this stuff that is going on.

We’re looking to expand our writing base - we have two regular contributors, myself included and a few occasional guests, though we’re getting serious about drafting in some decent writers - particularly about political and current affairsy stuff - if you’d like to get involved, drop me a comment somewhere.
