The Obama girls have been invited onto Hannah Montana, their favourite TV show, according to The Age. Hopefully they will also listen to Bananarama and watch Futurama while they’re at it.
The Hannah Montana film is coming out in April and there are rumours that the Obama girls may feature. However, Barack Obama strictly limits media access to his family after making a gaffe during his election campaign. He vowed then never to make his family an issue again.
On the Disney Channel show, Miley Stewart (played by Miley Cyrus) is an ordinary girl by day and a famous pop singer named Hannah Montana by night. Miley Cyrus is Billy Ray Cyrus’ daughter - he sang the hit song “Don’t Break My Heart (My Achey-Breaky Heart)”. She was on GMTV the other day and was really, really dull. However, she is a hit with pre-teen girls and her merchandise is tipped to be massive this Christmas.
Cyrus is owned, wholly or in part, by the same Disney club that created Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. However, I’m interested in seeing what happens contractually when she turns 18. There’s a pop career in the making. She’ll be 16 on 23rd November 2008.
