Saturday 4th August -Great Keppel Island

We stayed at the YHA with Jeffrey our host. Although Jeff was creative with his pricing strategy, the canvas tent was something special with an incredibly comfortable bed. He took us on a tin boat tour to a couple of snorkeling spots and then to a secluded beach. The island maps are atrocious and it is very difficult to navigate across the sand dunes. The best bet is to find walking tracks from the resort rather than starting at a beach. The remote beaches were secluded and peaceful. The snorkelling was good and Anna saw a stingray. On the romantic return trip we powered across the sea at sunset and dined at the local pizzeria with two possums and a pair of large wader birds.
