Yes, that would be ok.

I actually enjoy AFL, and have no problem with calling it football, as it is, as you rightly say, a form of football.

I just don't like calling football soccer. Because it, too, is football.

If that makes sense!

Call American football, rugby league, rugby union, or any other code football. That's fine by me. Just call football football too.

I've written the word 'football' enough for the time being!

The ol' soccer/football problem.

Football means any one of a number of games derived from English games of the nineteeth century. Hence Rugby Football, Association Football, American Football etc.
Adherents of each of the codes has the equal right to call their game football in the appropriate context.

Thus in America where American Football is predominant - football means AMerican Football. And so on.

In Australia, it's an insult to out local game to be forced to call soccer, football. The FFA thought police are complete dolts if they think that we will change.

The AFL plays the game of Australian Football. Look up theur rules. The FFA doesn't. It regulates the game of Australian Assocation Football. They ought to be a little less ignorant and call themselves the AFFA.

And to continue the theme, England beat Israel on Sat at the same time as the XV were playing USA in the oval ballgame.

And England also at the same time were playing Cricket v. India and winning the one-day series.

Bad TV timing.

Dad and I had a small TV with the soccer (as I call it, sorry, grew up in USA with football being another pointy oval ball thing, and to me football is rugger anyway!!!) and the big one for the rugby international.

Meanwhile the grannies were alternately watching racing and golf.

Chantry is not unlike a super bookmakers really!
