Super Simple Guide to Using Wordpress on Your Website - How to Add Pictures
In order to add pictures, you will need to have access rights of an “Author”, “Editor” or “Administrator”. To add a picture, click on the first button, next to “Add media”. When you hover over it, a box will appear, saying “Add an Image”
You will see this screen appear:
Option 1: To upload photos and images from your own computer, click on “choose files to upload:
You will then have the option to upload any of the images from your own computer:
Double click on the file you want, wait for it to “crunch” and then you will have the option to name the image and give it a caption:
Change the title to the one you would like to appear, in this instance “High Chair”. Give it a caption “Great furniture, at credit crunch prices” and then a description “beautiful pine high chair with seatbelt and food tray”.
Click in the “Link URL” box, click “File URL”, choose an alignment (probably right) and keep to medium size. Then press “Insert into Post” and the picture should appear in your text box:
Option 2: Insert a picture from the internet
a) If you are using Firefox as your web browser, go to any website or location which features an image that you like. Right click on the image to bring up this menu and go to “copy link location”.
b) If you are using Internet Explorer or Firefox, you can go to google image searches. Click on the thumbnail which you like, click on “view full-size image”. Copy the address (URL) of the full-size image - it should end in “.jpg” or similar.
For both a) & b) go back to your “add image” screen and paste the image location / URL in:
Give it a description, an alignment (usually right or centre) and then press “insert into post”. It should appear in your text box alongside your article:
