After the several thousand kilometers of Queensland coast that we had just travelled, there was nothing remarkable about this much hailed backpacker haunt. However, Agnes Waters and 1770 are both well serviced with accommodation and cafes; provide chopper, scooter and boat tours; are suitably serene and have enough beach to cater for all of their visitors. Watch out for stingers and stonefish.
