What’s Google done? It’s good, whatever it is.

I had a quick check of my Google Analytics stats before, and Google have done something pretty amazing - they’ve either significantly boosted my PageRank on a number of pages, or have changed something within the search algorithm which suits my pages - from Sunday onwards, I’ve received a whole heap of organic hits through their search.

This is good news.

If anyone knows why this may have happened - i.e. has there been a re-shuffle? Feel free to speculate, or even better, tell the answer for certain!

Incidentally, I’ve been doing some Google Adwords analysis on a couple of sites, and am ready to report back with the results - I’ll stick something quite lengthy up on the subject soon, I promise.

  1. Hi,

I have noticed same problem, this weekend i had have more organic searchs incomings than before, and now, I have not any PR in my pages.

Maybe a PR update is in progress.

  2. Hi Galder,

I’ll deal with your second point first!

PageRank, as I understand, displays on your toolbar retrospectively (i.e. it displays your sites PR from 3-4 months ago) it could be that at this time your site had no PageRank for whatever reason. However, before you panic, my experiences this weekend would indicate that there has been a PageRank re-shuffle, and as you’ve had more organic searches landing, you’ve probably gone up (i.e. your CURRENT PageRank is now higher than it was before), which will be reflected in a few months time on the toolbar.

Google do not release details of CURRENT PageRank, so you’re best off following the facts:

    1. Your PR was 0 on all pages around 3 months ago.

    2. It has now increased on some pages (hence the increase in hits)

Thanks for the message, it’s good to know it isn’t just me that’s noticed this, and in your case, I suspect it is far from a problem!
