Where Not to Stand

When we stopped at the salt lake of Lake Hart, as we got into South Australia on the Stuart Highway, it looked so strange and other-worldly that we wanted to go down to the lake itself and see what it was like.

The lake’s surface is strange, and a little crunchy, a bit like walking on icy snow (except that it was over 30 degrees celcius!!).

We thought that we would walk out a little onto the lake, given that we were just clear of the Woomera Prohibited Zone - a military area.

We got out to this sign (click on it to see it in full size) - after reading it, we decided to turn back!

Don’t walk here
